‘aerae’ is a weave of improvisations executed on various instruments (koto, rebab, positive organ, Coupigny modular synthesizer), captured and then treated as if they were field recordings. It’s about reducing the instrumental gesture to simple expressive material, shaping it while loosing control over it, letting it grow until there is no more readability in terms of ways of playing. Just like bad weed destroying the order of a highly organised garden.

“One as Two (Compositions for resonances of reed organ and chambers)” is the second collaborative work of Minoru Sato (-m/s, SASW) and Asuna, after their first studio cd (“Texture in glass tubes and reed organ” released on Spekk, Japan).

NRF is the Natural Resonant Frequency of a defined space. In this case the expression refers to the resonant frequencies of the glass vessels used to amplify and filter, trough the use of small speakers and miniature microphones, the organ sounds.

“We have been performing “music” focusing on the materialistic nature (physical phenomena) of sounds by utilizing the reed organ and glass tubes. Our music is composed and constructed in such a way that however the phenomena we use reacts with the circumstances of the space – the situation of the site including the audience – our live performance involves and uses these conditions”.

“Seth Nehil is an artist, performance-maker, and composer with a practice that crosses between sound, performance-events and the visual arts.  In recent years he has created large-scale sound performances and has collaborated with choreographers including Liz Gerring (NYC) and Linda Austin (Portland, OR). His sonic works investigate dynamic impacts, material tangibility and stochastic structures. Seth Nehil has also been an editor of arts publications, an organizer of performance festivals and a curator of exhibitions.  He currently teaches sound, video and art theory at Washington State University in Vancouver WA and the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland OR.

Knives has been influenced by cinematic sound design, hip hop music production, musique concrete and noir films, among other things.   These days, I am interested in making music that is equal parts dramatic and abstract, songs with all of the regularity removed.  I want to incorporate room tone, accidents, lack of control, mimicry, suggestion, tangentiality.”

Aggressive loop music based on sounds from photographic equipment and african field recordings. Besides being an early-Reich cheap imitation, ‘lagodelnulla’ is an italian expression (roughly translated as ‘lakeofnothingness’) found in an old Banda-Ngao lullaby (Central Africa, early ’60s). An ‘objet trouvé’ elevated as social commentary by the author. Volume encouraged.
